Drug and alcohol overdoses continue to increase across the country, and proper treatment isn’t one size fits all. Hotel California by the Sea Bellevue (HCBTS) provides treatment for substance use disorder, as well as co-occurring disorders, like anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder. HCBTS offers all levels of care, including detox, residential, and intensive outpatient treatment for men, women, and young adults. “Most people who struggle with substances don’t wake up one day and say, ‘I think I want to affect everyone in my life today,’” said Allie Wile, admissions supervisor at HCBTS. Many people who suffer from addiction also have an underlying issue, like mental illness or trauma. That’s why working through those issues is an important part of recovery. “When we don’t have coping mechanisms, we turn to whatever is in front of us,” Wile said. Signs of addiction include isolation, inability to concentrate, decreased work or school performance, sweating, difficulty sleeping, nausea, and vomiting. Seeking professional care for yourself or a loved one when you identify these signs can help ensure recovery is safe. “For the medical aspect, when you detox on your own, not only is it incredibly isolating, it’s actually very dangerous,” said Caroline Xanthakis, nursing administrator. At HCBTS, patients meet with a doctor to develop a personalized treatment plan and medication management to get them through detox safely. Nurses are available around the clock, and patients meet with a doctor every day. After detox, HCBTS works on the psychiatric aspect of addiction. “You don’t just want to treat the symptoms of the disease,” Xanthakis said. “You need to treat the disease itself.” Wile encourages anyone who has a loved one struggling with addiction, or is struggling themselves, to give HCBTS a call for a complimentary consultation. A team member can guide you through the process of getting yourself or a loved one into treatment. “Anyone can really struggle with this,” Wile said. “There’s so many great things we can help with as far as walking through those different steps, and we’re here anytime.” Learn more about recovery and HCBTS by calling 425-222-2100 or visiting the Hotel California by the Sea website.
