📍 Location: Bandora, Ponda, Goa 🕉️ Built: 11th century (Kadmaba) 🙏 Dedicated to: Neminatha Teerthankar Neminath Jain Basti, #Bandivade (Ponda) Originally constructed around 1100 AD and later renovated in the 15th century, the Neminath Jain Basti—dedicated to the 22nd Tirthankara, Neminath—now stands as a protected archaeological site. A Kannada inscription discovered at the site records royal land grants made for the temple’s upkeep. Jainism had a notable presence in Goa, especially during the Kadamba (10th–14th centuries) and Vijayanagara (14th–15th centuries) periods, when rulers extended generous patronage to Jain bastis (basadis). The Bandivade Kannada inscriptions (dated 1425 CE and 1433 CE, with references to earlier 14th-century renovations) state that King Sripala founded the village and commissioned the Jain temple of Neminath, which now lies in ruins. These inscriptions also mention grants of the villages Vaghurme (Vagurumbe) and Akshya to ensure the temple’s maintenance and restoration. Further reconstruction took place during the Vijayanagara era, particularly under Deva Raya II of the Sangama Dynasty (1432 CE and 1451 CE). The renovations were supervised by the minister Triyambaka, son of Lakkapa, under the guidance of the Jain monk Simhanandacharya and his disciple Muniyaina. Special thanks 🙏 to Goa Government for protecting this site which is currently going on. #Bandora #Ponda #Goa #neminath #jainbasadi #jainmandir #badivadekannadainsription #badivadejainbasti #goajains #jainismingoa #bandorajaintemple #jaintemplegoa #kadamba #vijaynagara #shripala
