Devlog 27 - Raycasting to Pick Up and Drop Objects In The World In this episode of Unreal Engine 4, I learn to cast rays! It involves shooting straight trace lines out from your first person camera and using the information gathered from that node. It's incredible! You can also use debug lines to display your rays during editing mode. It's incredible! Using this powerful technique, I reconfigure my nodes for picking up objects to not depend on overlaps anymore, and enable them to be picked up from a distance. This also extends to the ability to drop objects as it will detect surfaces that you fire a beam or ray at.
