Going too much insulin is dangerous and potentially deadly… this is a mistake that I have made in the past and it is also a mistake that a new graduate nurse made the other day. Being a new nurse and making mistakes is so hard, in todays fast pace chaotic environment it is almost impossible not to make a mistake. So if you do, just know that the main things to focus needs to be on the safety of the patient, what actions need to be taken now and what can you learn from this hard lesson. Try to put aside your emotional feelings about this incident and put your energy and focus into thinking about what events led you to create this mistake. As I’ve said several times, I believe we are here on planet earth to learn lessons. We are all imperfect and can only try to get better and do the best we can. I hope this helps you out a ton!
