BODY CAM: LAPD Officers Open Fire On Aggressive Suspect Armed With Knives

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - LAPD (Los Angeles Police Department) released body cam footage of an incident where LAPD officers open fire on aggressive suspect armed with knives. On March 16, 2021, at approximately 5:58 p.m., LAPD officers responded to a residence located in the 1600 block of East 109th Street, in reference to an assault with a deadly weapon call. Upon arrival, the officers heard loud banging noises coming from inside that residence. While forming a plan, officers learned a 32-year-old suspect was inside the residence armed with a knife and kicking in the victims bedroom door. As officers entered the residence, they located the suspect standing in the hallway, outside the victims bedroom door, holding (2) knives. After giving multiple commands to drop the knives, the suspect complied. However, he walked back towards the knives, resulting in the deployment of a 40mm less lethal round, which struck the suspect causing him to fall to the floor.
