Please be aware that this webinar was developed for our legacy systems. As a consequence, some parts of the webinar or its entirety may not be applicable to the national systems (Graham, Cedar, Beluga etc.). Xeon Phi is the first Intel Many Integrated Core (MIC) architecture product that combines small X86 cores onto a single chip. In this seminar, both hardware architecture and software developing model will be introduced. Modern parallel programming models, like OpenMP, OpenCL and MPI, will be discussed with code examples, optimizations and performance comparison with CPU and GPU. This seminar will also present you a simple process to quickly evaluate whether your program is best served by continuing to develop using CPU/GPU, or if adding the Phi coprocessor to your platform will increase the performance. _______________________________________________ This webinar was presented by Fei Mao (SHARCNET) on October 29th, 2014 as a part of a series of regular biweekly webinars ran by SHARCNET. The webinars cover different high performance computing (HPC) topics, are approximately 45 minutes in length, and are delivered by experts in the relevant fields.
