Cut deep into the Mendip hills lies Cheddar gorge, a natural phenomenon that makes a stunning setting to climb through. starting from a little plateau along side a pond and passing some gift shops the road then kicks up past some large car parks on either side of the road. The surface of the road is excellent and the road is wide untill the steepest part where the gorge narrows. You will always find cyclists on this slope as it offers a tough but not overwhelming challenge to riders of all abilities. With the gorges towering rocks around you you soon reach the 16% section.
