Originally known as THE DRAG SET this Putney quartet (Terry Martin - vocals, Mike Branacaccio - guitar, Tim Du Feu - bass and Phil Fox - drums) played innumerable club dates in in and around London and released one 45 on the tiny Go label in early 1967 before embracing psychedelia, changing their name and getting leather costumes made. By day they rehearsed alongside Jimi Hendrix at Peter Cook's Establishment Club, and by night they helped hipsters swing at clubs like The Revolution, The Speakeasy, The Electric Garden and The Bag O'Nails (where Paul McCartney told them he thought they'd been terrible). They also had a residency at The Marquee, where they supported The Electric Prunes in December 1967 and also shared the stage with The Soft Machine, The Nice, Joe Cocker and countless others. By the time they signed to Philips, however, the psych boom had almost ended. Their fine album and the single culled from it flopped in no uncertain terms, but they stuck around long enough for one last gasp, the magnificently heavy Magic Potion, produced by the great Fritz Fryer.
