I've always found it fascinating how Mo Dao Zu Shi builds its series upon us having a bad guy as the main character. The story doesn't unfold his evil doings at the beginning and it still doesn't after quite awhile. I also love how this series handles its main characters because they seem like real people. Maybe a bit too over the top but I do think they react to situations like a living person would. Anyways, I'm getting sidetracked. I wanted to explore the concept of Wei Wuxian's mistakes and his personal turmoil of falling into the heretic path. He was never an evil guy to begin with but just lost his way because of other people. He saw it as his only choice at that point. I also wanted to explore Lan Wangji's relationship with him a bit further. I've always considered them kind of a bittersweet couple and it kinda hurts me. Especially since they don't seem to get their feelings across to each other all that well. At least when they're young. About the song... The song is this year's Eurovision winner. Yes, I am aware. I was editing this for Desucon 2019 AMV contest because I totally fell in love with it while listening to this year's entries beforehand. There was also a Eurovision themed award this year (yes, really) which is why I picked a Eurovision song in the first place. I just got so damn lucky that this happened to actually win and now being in the finals with it felt even better. Mo Dao Zu Shi sarjassa on aina ollut mielenkiintoista, miten sarja rakentaa itsensä sen varaan, että päähenkilömme onkin osittain tarinan "pahis". Tarina ei alussa täysin kerro, mitä hän on tehnyt ja itseasissa menee jokunen tovi, ennen kuin katsoja saa tietää mitään. Rakastan myös miten tämä sarja käsittelee henkilöhahmojaan, koska ne vaikuttavat oikeilta ihmisiltä. Ehkä hieman yliampuvilta, mutta hahmojen reaktiot ovat hyvin usein realistisia. Halusin käsitellä Wei Wuxianin tekemiä virheitä ja hänen sisäistä tuskaansa, kun hän etenee entistä enemmän harhajohteiselle polulle. Wei Wuxian ei ollut koskaan paha ihminen, vain toisten ihmisten riepottelema, jolloin hän koki tämän tien ainoaksi vaihtoehdokseen. Halusin keskittyä myös Lan Wangjin ihmissuhteeseen Wei Wuxianin kanssa. Mielestäni hahmot ovat olleet aina yhdessä katkeransuloinen pariskunta ja se tavallaan sattuu mua. Erityisesti kun hahmot eivät saa kerrottua tuntemuksiaan toinen toiselleen, erityisesti nuorina. Tämä kappale on vuoden 2019 Euroviisuvoittaja. Olen tietoinen. Aloitin editoimaan tätä Desuconin AMV-kilpailuun jo hyvissä ajoin, koska rakastuin kappaleeseen kuunnellessani tämän vuoden Euroviisukappaleita etukäteen. Desuconissa olisi Euroviisuteemainen palkinto, jonka vuoksi valitsin editoida viisukappaletta ylipäänsä. Minulla kävi vain aivan järjetön tuuri, että kappale sattui voittamaan Euroviisut, joten nyt finaalissa olo tuntui vieläkin merkityksellisemmältä.
