Enterprise 2.0 Jun 19, 2012 Abstract: What does it take for a group of people to collaborate? This is a deep question in management science. In this session, I will conduct a live collaboration experiment with you, the audience of enterprise 2.0 conference. The goal is to identify some of the pre-conditions necessary to foster a collaborative environment. As a part of this experiment, I will present an analytics framework for quantifying collaboration and its effectiveness. This framework is based on social network analysis (SNA). I will offer an intuitive understanding of basic concepts in SNA and explain its computation in laymen's term. Subsequently, I will give an example of how this computational framework is applied in finding influencers. Finally I will perform a real-time analysis of the audience collaboration using our framework with open source SNA tools. The result of this analysis as well as the audience collaboration will be presented at the end of the session. I will examine the result of the collaboration together with the audience. And I will describe some of the high level insights we can glean from this live collaboration experiment.
