We put so much love, passion, and late-night mixing sessions into this as a tribute to Daft Punk, one of our absolute favorite bands! Unconventional Marketing for a Gothic Classic Now, why am I, Catherine Earnshaw of the Yorkshire moors, dropping a Daft Punk re-remix? Because this is my next-level, totally unconventional way of celebrating the Official Teaser Trailer and building the hype for my upcoming 2026 film, Wuthering Heights, which I’m starring in and producing with LuckyChap for Warner Bros. Pictures. Think of it as my personal, pumping, all-caps soundtrack for the film. Just like we experimented with the marketing for Barbie back in 2023, this is me channeling my inner Catherine—all the passion, the intensity, the love for Emily Brontë's original, twisted, beautiful book—and fusing it with the pure, exhilarating energy of Daft Punk’s music. It's my personal creative twist on the traditional Hollywood celebrity social media promotion, and it’s all here to get you, my incredible fandom, and the entire film and music community, hyped up for the movie. Directed by the genius, Oscar-winning Emerald Fennell (my director from Saltburn and Promising Young Woman!), this is not your grandma’s period drama. It’s primal, sexual, and absolutely bananas, and I can't wait for you to see the dark, obsessive love story between my Catherine Earnshaw and Jacob Elordi's Heathcliff when it hits cinemas on Valentine's Day weekend, February 13, 2026! A Deep Dive into the Music: ‘Too Long’ and ‘Steam Machine’ For the music nerds and Daft Punk devotees out there, let's talk about the incredible tracks in this live mashup. 'Too Long' (2001) The Original: This is the soulful, deep-house masterpiece from Daft Punk’s second album, Discovery (2001). Significance: It features the iconic vocals of Romanthony, a hugely influential American house music artist. The song's structure is legendary—it builds and evolves over its nearly 10-minute runtime, a beautiful defiance of typical pop song constraints. The title itself is a cheeky nod from the band: they thought the song was "too long" for an album, but its emotional depth and enduring groove proved otherwise. Cultural Impact: Discovery is the album that launched Daft Punk into the stratosphere, popularizing their helmeted alter-egos and setting the stage for their Alive 2006/2007 rebirth. 'Steam Machine' (2005) The Original: This is a much darker, heavier, and more industrial track from their third album, Human After All (2005). Significance: In contrast to the disco-house of Discovery, Human After All was raw, repetitive, and more aggressive. ‘Steam Machine’ is a perfect example, an almost relentless, hypnotic techno track that showcases their more experimental, robotic side. The Mashup Magic: When Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo put these two tracks together for the Alive 2006/2007 Tour, they created pure magic. Blending the soulful longing of ‘Too Long’ with the mechanical crunch of ‘Steam Machine’ is a perfect distillation of what made the Alive tour a cultural phenomenon—a career-spanning megamix that redefined what a live electronic music show could be. The tour cemented their legacy, pulling tracks from all their eras and weaving them into an unforgettable sonic tapestry inside that iconic pyramid.
