I am really sorry for my ridiculously poor editing, I wanted to record it in a similar style to like discussing something on stream or with a friend. While editing I realized I did not 100% plan that out but I didn't want to re-record it, I wanted to get it out there and be done with this project. This video is not meant to be an attack on Thor or anyone else, and I do not condone and actively discourage any spreading of hate based on anything presented in this video. I think Thor is, from everything I've ever heard about him, a genuinely good guy all around. 0:00 Intro 1:38 Heartbound development hell 5:11 The monthly updates 6:24 Decade long development cycle? 8:31 Comparing to other games' cycles 13:50 Developing ANOTHER game on stream 15:54 Monthly updates is the real issue here 17:19 Criticism 2: The Mr. Robot shorts 18:37 "Mr Robot Sucks" from Pirate Software 20:05 "Mr Robot" From Pirate Software 21:09 Debunking begins 23:24 Partially true; is it that serious? 24:35 Thor's initial claim is wrong 28:50 Thor kinda did the thing he's mad about 29:39 Questioning the "personal phone" bit 31:57 Preempting "1o57 was paid off" 33:40 Conclusion? 35:15 Outro I do have legitimate criticisms, I feel, of Thor/Pirate Software. I wanted to comment on the long development time of Heartbound and the lack of studio updates, and how stream/YouTube content has been shifting away from Heartbound development for about a year. Also, while the majority of Thor's content generally seems well-informed, I identified a case where I feel he really missed the mark and put out incorrect information that disparaged something good, the TV show Mr. Robot. To preempt a counter argument I can already hear: yes, I know in the second short one of Thor's points is that people could've mistaken it for a Mr. Robot ARG. I would point out that was not referenced in his original video, but it is a good point. My counterpoint about it is 1. Thor also posted a write up that just straight up had the guy's phone number. 2. Even if Mr. Robot deleted their tweet, Thor's linking to his post where he says 1o57's phone number is still there. 3. Again, 1o57 never tweeted being angry about the cryptic tweet leading to his phoneI number. Quite the opposite really, the whole situation seemed cool to him and he actively said to give them a break. 4. In the process of solving this, fans who followed that Twitter account and would care to try would almost certainly see the other tweets from Kor Adana thanking 1o57. 5. How does it make sense to stop watching a show and dislike it so strongly you go onto your large stream and disparage it, and then turn that segment into monetized content millions of people will see and take in stride, all because the marketing team for the show made a social media post that is KINDA controversial in a broad sense, but the one person actually affected by it was not upset by. I still support all the good Thor does for gamers and indie developers in the online space, but I think he is not flawless and these issues should be brought up so hopefully they can be either explained or corrected.
