See this watch on our website: https://goo.gl/nr2Qgc Discover the world of Panerai with Govberg: https://goo.gl/wHu1xD Greetings, and welcome to the world of Officine Panerai. Today, I'll be your guide to the Panerai Radiomir 1940 3 Days Ceramica. This 48 millimeter full ceramic case Panerai Radiomir 1940 can be seen on our website, govbergwatches.com along with the entire Officine Panerai family of model lines. The best way to approach this watch with it's unique dial case and strap combination is to start outside and work our way in. Now the watch features an extraordinarily rugged and beautifully finished dark brown calf skin. This is what Panerai calls the Ponte Vecchio calf strap. It has a remarkable natural grain and a rich texture with a 70s style Officine Panerai logo and deep ecru contrasting stitch that's beautifully consent with the simulated radium patina of the dial luminescent elements in gilt style printing. Now it features a traditional Panerai oversized trapezoidal pin buckle for easy on the fly adjustment. It's true to history and it also makes for easy sizing on days when you're engaged in vigorous activity or inactivity as the wrist expands or contracts. The Ponte Vecchio strap is incredibly rich, minimally treated, you can see the natural grain of the leather. It is extremely thick, substantial and supple on the wrist. Now you'll note that the watch features the Radiomir 1940 case here in an extraordinary 48 millimeter format. Now the Radiomir 1940 differs from earlier Radiomir models in that it does not feature the wire lugs but rather it draws from the post 1940 history of Panerai's original combat dive watch featuring a more sensuous case with compound curves and stronger projecting straight looks rather than wire looks. Now entirely in ceramic, this is an extraordinary material because like sapphire crystals, it's extremely resistant to scratching, marring and scuffing, effectively having the same scratch resistance as sapphire itself. So the watch is designed for long wearing durability. Now of course 48 millimeters gives Panerai the opportunity to maximize the dial and it does so in superb fashion with a prototype style that is harking back to the original 1936 Panerai reference 2533 dial with dots and batons. So you're looking at quite literally the most primitive and elemental of Panerai dial designs. Now it features a simulated off white or ecru coloration to the SuperLuminova luminescent paint. So it glows like a modern watch in low or no light but it has the look of the aged radium that characterizes the beautiful patina of surviving vintage Panerai watches. Likewise, it features a map black dial with a subtle SLC, sometimes know as the SLC, sometimes known as the pig ... the siluro a lenta corsa was the mans torpedo used by the original Italian navy commandos who carried the earliest Panerai combat watches into battle with them. Now the SLC dial, on map black also features blackened minute and hour hands. Now the watch features a Panerai manufacture caliber p3000 movement which has a unique function for world travelers who jump time zones. In the second setting position, the hour hand can be moved independently of the minute hand. Now of course in the outermost position, the watch can be set precisely and when screwed in, the crown and the ceramic case, and dial the time piece with 100 meter water resistance. So this watch, true to its heritage, is very much an aquatic high horology specimen. When discussing high horology, it's important to mention the important and significant strides Panerai has made in very short time, becoming a fully integrated manufacture, such that it can produce the p3000 caliber, the ceramic case and the dial of this PAM 577. You see, a full dual anchored balance bridge, braced at both sides for greater stability in the face of shock. Likewise the watch features a free sprung balance oscillating it 21 thousand 600 vibrations per hour. The free sprung architecture means that there isn't a mobile stud index that can be displaced accidentally by shock. Therefore, the timing of the watch, braced by a full bridge, and a free sprung balance is extremely resilient in the face of vigorous use. The watch also features a beautiful straight grained, simulated three quarter bridge. As you can see, the barrels on the left side of the screen and their pivot jewels as well as the drive train in a continuation of the bridge structure. It is split by a partition but it creates the visual impression of the pocket watch calibers that powered the original Panerai time pieces. Moreover with the 72 hour three day power reserve, it has exceptional autonomy. Of course it is executed entirely within Panerai's manufacture in the Swiss canton of Neuchatel.
