Warning! This is a hell of a lot more work than the two minutes of video might lead you to believe. Buying new was never an option. Strip Decals and Hardware Fill scratches, repair, build, and fair fiberglass as required. Sand to 60-80. The gelcoat will hide the sanding scratches. Clean surface and prepare to spray. I used a cheap HVLP gun from ebay with a 2.5mm tip. The first coat came out way too thin. The trigger/needle assy. on the gun needed to be shimmed with a washer to allow a faster build. All coats were sprayed UNTHINNED and runs were not an issue. Waxed gelcoat was only used for the final coats. After a few days of curing, the real work begins. Try to remove as much of the wax from the surface as possible, big fail here on my part. Wax clogs sandpaper very quickly. Sand as necessary to remove any orange peel or runs with the finest grit practical. This was 80 in my case, lots of 80, mostly wasted by wax or whatever is in the top layer of gelcoat. Continue to sand, then wet sand to over 1000. Going up to 2000 means a quick buffing with 3M Finesse-It II. Slap some decals on her, hoist the sails and go. New sails coming soon.
