Canada, Alberta, Banff Gondola to the Majestic Mountain Peaks

We crossed the border from Montana into Alberta, Canada via Rte. 89 North at the Carway Border Crossing. In Canada, the road became Rte. 2 North. Our first stop in Canada was at the Cardston Tourist Information Centre. It is a beautiful, modern facility that features interesting displays and lots of useful information. We continued up Rte. 2 through Fort MacLeod, Claresholm to Calgary. The terrain was a huge flat plain. In Calgary we caught the Trans-Canada Highway, Rte.1 West, and headed toward Banff National Park. As we approached the park we saw majestic mountain peaks in the distance and as we entered the park the mountains arose on both sides of the road. We entered Banff and were greeted by the usual array of motels, shops, fast food places and tourists ambling through the busy streets. We had arrived at our first major destination in Canada and we were enjoying the picturesque setting and the energy in the air. Music: "Peak Moments" and "Azure Alibis" by John Rudzinskas.
