A detailed investigation of the 1873 Thames Torso Murder, also known as the Battersea or Thames Mystery. Welcome to the House of Lechmere. PLEASE SUBSCRIBE, LIKE, SHARE AND COMMENT BELOW! In this episode Edward Stow takes a new look at a case that has intrigued students of true crime for decades - the first of the Thames Torso Murders. It is often assumed that this case was not connected to the later series of four Thames Torso cases, let alone the Jack the Ripper murders of 1888. However there are many similarities to the 1887-89 torsos, and also between them and the later Jack the Ripper killings. Furthermore did this murder follow on from the murder of Harriet Buswell at Great Coram Street in 1872? For the first time these questions will be addressed and we will see if the 1873 Torso should be treated as the second of this series of brutal crimes - and whether or not the leading suspect to be the serial killer known to history as Jack the Ripper could have been responsible.
