The yearly Toys for Tots train is a charity toy drive that is not organized by any one group, but a series of dedicated volunteers from both in and outside the railroad, and the armed forces. It was an honor for me to have volunteered to help the cause, and take some video to share with you. This video will feature footage from two of the three days that the train operated in 2012 (on NYS&W and M&E). In the course of those three days, the train collected well over 10,000 toys for needy children. This video begins with a chase on NYS&W, after the train's last stop at Butler, NJ. After that it was on to Warwick, for the next day's Middletown & New Jersey train. A week later, the train ran on the Morristown & Erie, leaving from Dover yard. This is the only train that has run on the High Bridge Line in the past year, and it does so without an issue before switching ends at the end of the line and making stops on the way back, and up the Dover & Rockaway Branch. In between, you will see a look from the engine as the train moves over New Jersey Transit from Lake Junction to Dover. At the end of the line, the train did a short photo runby over the Rockaway River before we hopped on board to ride back to Dover Yard. One of my intentions of this video is to make up for my conspicuous absence from YouTube. (Life gets in the way of this hobby pretty easily.) You'll see plenty of things in this video that you will see nowhere else, including footage from inside the train, and a rare view from a locomotive-mounted camera. My other goal with this video is to bring attention to the Toys for Tots Train, so that we can see the train grow again next year. I hope to see you there! Enjoy the video, and have a Merry Christmas!
