Stainless steel braided hose can be a silent destroyer in your engine bay. This video details the problems I had with the 1.8T project and what I did to solve the issues. If the hose connects the engine to something stationary in the engine bay, eg washer bottle only solution is zero contact with anything or better still, use a normal rubber/plastic/silicone hose. If the hose is clamped to the engine and connects different parts connected to the engine, perhaps plastic sleeving will solve the problem. But generally, I think in the engine bay, I'd use plastic/rubber/silicone hoses only.
