Appalachian Trail Days 6 & 7: 50mph Winds & Super Bowl Zero | Neel Gap to Green Dragon Hostel | HoggCountry Day 6 on the Appalachian Trail (Feb 7, 2026) started with a much-needed resupply at the legendary Mountain Crossings at Neel Gap [00:26]. The climb out was beautiful but brutal, with 50mph wind gusts [03:37] testing our gear and our patience. We pushed through to Wolf Laurel Top [11:00] for lunch, but with the winds howling and road closures making logistics tricky at Hogpen Gap, we made the call to exit the trail for a reset. Sometimes the trail forces your hand, and Day 7 (Feb 8, 2026) turned into a perfect "Zero Day" at the Green Dragon Hostel [20:04]. From a massive French toast breakfast [21:43] to catching the Super Bowl with the growing NOBO bubble [21:49], it was the ultimate way to dry out and recharge. Early February on the A.T. is all about managing the elements and knowing when to take a break. Ready to get back out there for the next big push!
