We lost contact over the years and I never knew what happened to him. On a recent trip back to the region, I decided to see if that single, old map pin was enough to find him. With no phone number, no address and no idea if he was even still there, I took a train, walked through rice fields and followed that pin to see where it would lead and whether I could reconnect with someone who once played a big part in my life.
