A year ago, I discovered a lonely cabin in the vast steppe. Today, I set out to check on it—but as I approached, I saw something devastating. The steppe had burned, leaving behind a scorched landscape. The cabin survived, but many plants and trees were lost—a heartbreaking sight. Inside, chaos awaited. Everything was broken, the stove was destroyed, and the place was in ruins. There was a lot of work to do. I cleaned up, repaired what I could, and began fixing the stove. Using an old piece of rusted metal, ash from the fire, and a mixture of clay and river water, I created a rough repair to bring it back to life. Then, the weather turned. Rain, then a violent storm with powerful winds swept across the steppe. But inside the small cabin, I was safe. This tiny shelter, once forgotten, had become my refuge once again.
