Growing Potatoes in Chopped Leaves

Our gardens run on chopped leaves. We called it the "Living Soil Method"; something we picked-up from our forests. We have been growing potatoes using this method for several seasons, with pleasing results. There is less weeding, less watering, and the resident worms continually add time-released fertilizer. The easy, clean harvesting clinches it for us. It's a real pleasure, sneaking our hands under the layer of chopped leaves, to snitch clean, juicy, sweet and tender new red potatoes. For the first time, we are trying Purple Majesty, but just bought 10# of Pontiac Reds, to plant in 2 more beds, as a back-up.
