To purchase this set: https://www.nikkpilato.net/music-stor... = = = = = Unlike string instruments, which maintain a stable pitch once tuned (since sound is produced through consistent bow contact rather than internal air processes), or keyboard/percussion instruments whose intonation cannot be adjusted, wind instruments require a period of warmup time prior to any rehearsal. Many wind ensembles use chorales for just such a purpose. Tone production on wind instruments depends directly on breath support, embouchure formation, air speed, and pitch tendencies that fluctuate with temperature, amateur and scholastic wind instruments require an ensemble warmup prior to any rehearsal. Ensemble warmups allow wind players to stabilize intonation as instruments warm to equilibrium temperature, coordinate breathing and release, unify vowel shape and tone production, and calibrate balance across the ensemble in real time. In short, collective warm up activities such as chorales address physiological and acoustical variables unique to wind performance that must be aligned across players before effective ensemble playing can occur. This set of Daily Fundamentals includes chorales in multiple keys, as well as scales that can be practiced together as an ensemble to reinforce a particular key, its tendencies, the particular sound of its harmonies, and more. The warmup packet includes other helpful ideas that will keep your students on their toes, and help to make daily warmups a more enjoyable experience for all.
