African American shot by US police sparks more protests

Protests have erupted in the US state of Georgia, after a black man was shot dead by police in the capital Atlanta. Twenty-seven year-old Rayshard Brooks was fatally shot during an altercation with police following a failed breath test outside a Wendy's restaurant on Friday night. The city's police chief has quit and the officer involved has been fired. Mr Brooks' killing has added yet more fuel to the fire of nationwide protests calling for an end to racism and police brutality - demonstrations which were sparked by the killing of George Floyd by a white policeman three weeks ago. On Monday afternoon (NZT) an autopsy revealed Rayshard Brooks died from organ damage and blood loss from two gunshot wounds to the back. Our Worldwatch reporter Annabel Reid has more.
