Bike checks against technological fraud
At the beginning of May 2016, the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) invited a large number of media to its headquarters in Aigle, Switzerland, to present and explain the detection method adopted this year to ensure that technological fraud stays out of cycling. Our team of specialists demonstrated this magnetic resistance technology and explained its advantages compared with other detection methods such as thermal imaging and x-rays. It was magnetic resistance technology that enabled the UCI to detect a case of technological fraud at the 2016 UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships in Heusden-Zolder (Belgium). Since then, the UCI has tested thousands of bikes at many races in different disciplines.
