Habano Festival taking place in the heartland of Cuban tobacco

Exceptional soil conditions, a particular climate and the long experience of tobacco growers make the San Juan y Martinez massif the best land for the production of the leaves, which make Cuban cigars so admired. Participants in the XVIII Habano Festival toured on Tuesday the fields of the western Cuban province of Pinar del Rio, considered as the place where the best tobacco leaves are harvested. The tour allowed visitors to appreciate the different stages of the tobacco crop, such as the sorting of leaves, their selection, the planting of seeds, and the drying process. Furthermore, they were able to appreciate the experience of the farmers, whose families have been in the business for years and uphold indisputable traditions that give the cigars their stamp of distinction.
