Location: on top of New Hampton Parks and Recreation System: Chickasaw County Testing schedule: First Mondays at 11:00 AM Testing time: 11:00:09 AM (on time) Cycle when tested: 3 minute alert Cameras used: Canon PowerShot SX540HS (tight shot), Canon PowerShot SX620HS (wide shot & audio) Recording distance from siren: 265 feet Loudness: Very loud - 118.3 dBA, 119.7 dBC Temperature: 78°F Other enthusiasts present: Connor (@Thunderbolt1000Tfan ), Dylan (@xXSo1arGamingXx ) Other notes: For the first Monday this month, we carpooled Dylan to New Hampton's 10/12 Allertor because we wanted to hear one while on our trip. Unlike the one in Cedar Falls, this one seems to only run on 208 volts as opposed to 480 volts, so it's not as loud, but still pretty damn loud. Recently, the county had done some radio upgrades, so that's why all of their sirens do alert now. The rotator for this thing has just about had it at this point, as it gets stuck in the same spot for over a minute now, and for a while we thought it just simply wasn't gonna move until it finally managed to narrowly escape the bad spot. It only ever made two rotations during this test. Regardless, my meter got up to 118.3 dBA and Connor's hit 119.7 dBA from standing in front of the horn. Also, you gotta love the reverb in this area! On another note, this thing is scheduled to be replaced in the coming months, and we heard that this may have possibly been its last test, so we definitely made a good decision here if that indeed ends up being the case.
