Gita Wirjawan delivers the commencement speech to the School of Government and Public Policy Indonesia's graduating Class of 2019 and Class of 2020. The ceremony took place on February 22, 2020, in which graduates from the Master of Public Policy program were conferred their degrees. Gita, also Advisory Board Chairman of the school, began by highlighting change as the only constant in humanity's progress. "Some societies have displayed humility, some others indifference, vigilance, or even hubris over some of these changing forces," Gita asserted. "As a result, some have been able to obtain a seat at the table, some have not, and some have even attained a position of leadership with respect to the others." His speech then characteristically turned to the two main issues of inequality and climate change, noting that "these are the main course" and that "the future is looking more stingy on second chances". The address ended on an encouraging note, with Gita telling the graduates to stick with the right narrative while still having some fun in life. "You must anchor yourselves in the right narrative so that all boats gallantly float and sail with proper rudders," Gita said.
