Returning to Yellow Cat Road between Cisco and Moab, Utah - and this time, the desert had something incredible waiting for me. I found a cross-section of opalized wood showing the complete round of an ancient branch with bark still preserved in translucent opal. The wood grain is frozen in waves of cream and gold, millions of years transformed into stone. But the finds didn't stop there. I also discovered agatized wood with fire running through the bands, red barite crystals that pseudomorphed into agate and locked themselves in black stone, and explored the abandoned uranium mines that once made this area famous during the 1950s uranium boom. Yellow Cat Road is legendary in the rockhounding community, and this video shows you why. From Charlie Steen's historic uranium discovery that put Moab on the map as "The Uranium Capital of the World" to the incredible opalized and agatized wood still waiting to be found, this location keeps calling me back. Join me as I explore the ghost structures of sealed mine adits, weathered timber works, and the geological treasures of the Morrison Formation - the same 150-million-year-old layer that held both uranium and petrified wood. 🌐 Website: sheenasadventures.com FEATURED FINDS: Complete cross-section opalized wood Agatized wood with banding Red barite pseudomorphs in black agate Uranium mine history & exploration FILMING LOCATION: Yellow Cat Road, between Cisco and Moab, Utah Morrison Formation February 7, 2026 DISCLAIMER: Always follow BLM regulations when rockhounding on public lands.
