Renowned Laparoscopic surgeon Dr. Subhash Khanna of Kalyani Hospital did Laparoscopic removal of a large ovarian cyst from a 30 year old patient on 24th July 2012 in Gurgaon. This was probably the largest cyst which weighed 9 kg having been removed laparoscopically anywhere in the world. The patient was undergoing infertility treatment and when an ultrasound of the abdomen was done this cyst was discovered. The patient came to Kalyani Hospital where this rare surgery was done successfully. The great thing was that the ovary was preserved which will improve the chances of pregnancy for the woman. The surgery which lasted one hour had Dr Nilima Chugh, Gynaecologist and Dr Sanjay Aggarwal, Anaesthetist in assistance.
