Kendall Rae, in partnership with USDA’s NUag and Virginia State, is embarking on a national 1890 college tour to provide education and awareness around financial literacy, urban farm practices, and USDA youth loans. Kendall Rae Johnson, the youngest certified farmer in the United States and USDA’s National Urban Agriculture Youth Ambassador, recently visited South Carolina State University for an inspiring tour of SC State PSA and its agricultural programs. During her time on campus, Kendall explored: 1890 Research & Demonstration Farm, 4-H Achieve Camp, innovative program areas and met with one of SC State PSA's Farm Partners to see community-based agriculture in action. At just 10 years old, Kendall Rae has already made national headlines for her commitment to sustainable urban farming. Raised in Atlanta, Georgia, her journey began at age three, inspired by the timeless advice of her great-grandmother, Laura "Kate" Williams:“Put collard greens back in the dirt.” That wisdom has grown into a powerful mission — and a movement — led by a young trailblazer working to engage youth and communities in growing their own food.
