Monday, January 8th 1968. Footage of a group of pro-Biafran demonstrators marching through central London singing and holding placards before delivering a petition at the offical residence of the British Prime Minister at 10 Downing Street, London. Reuters Text: Demonstrators carrying placards reading: "BRITAIN IS CREATING ANOTHER VIETNAM", and "HANDS OF BIAFRA", paraded down Downing Street and delivered a letter from the Biafran Union of Great Britain (and Ireland) for Premier Harold Wilson. The Letter accused Britain of sending over 2,000 troops to Nigeria, under the guise of students (sic), and supplying frigates, aircraft, bombs and other military equipment. It said Britain was "encouraging rapacity, blood-thirstiness and brutality in the war-torn nation. But the letter went on to say it was not too late for the British government to contract out. They could do this by stopping all shipments of arms and soldiers to Nigeria and unequivocally declaring themselves to be on the side of peace in Nigeria and Biafra. Source: Reuters News Archive.
