The Žumberak – Samobor Highlands Nature Park 4K

The Samobor Highlands and the Žumberak Highlands form a single, unified mountain complex that is protected as the Žumberak – Samobor Highlands Nature Park. The Žumberak Highlands occupy the central, larger area, while the Samobor Highlands occupy the eastern and northern massifs, which are a smaller area. Sveta Gera (1178 m a.s.l.) is the highest peak of the Žumberak Highlands, and Japetić (879 m a.s.l.) is the highest peak of the Samobor Highlands. The park contains a large number of well-marked cycling and hiking trails, and all of them lead towards these two highest peaks of the park. My intention is to walk through the park and explore all these trails. Today, we are going for a walk along the route: Samobor – Grgos Cave – Slani Dol – Hamor – Old Town Samobor – back to Samobor. We will cover approximately 18 kilometers.
