On August 14, 2025, at approximately 5:15 p.m., LAPD Mission Patrol Division officers responded to reports of a man walking along Arleta Avenue pointing a gun at passing vehicles. The suspect, later identified as 48-year-old Lorenzo Sandoval, ignored repeated commands to drop the weapon and at one point turned toward officers while still armed. This resulted in an Officer-Involved Shooting (OIS). Sandoval was struck by gunfire, transported to a local hospital for treatment, and later booked for resisting an executive officer by threats or violence. A replica handgun was recovered at the scene. No officers or community members were injured during the incident. This video is part of LAPD’s ongoing commitment to transparency and provides body-worn camera footage, dispatch audio, and other available evidence related to this critical incident.
