A condition that semen goes into the bladder instead of coming out of the penis via the urethra during orgasm. Normally, the sphincter of the bladder contracts before ejaculation, sealing the bladder which besides inhibiting the release of urine also prevents a reflux of seminal fluids into the bladder during ejaculation. It does not affect the ability to get an erection or have an orgasm. The semen in the bladder is excreted in the next urination. It is not harmful and requires treatment only if the person attempts to be a father of a child. During a male orgasm, sperms are released from the epididymis and travel via the vas deferens, mixing with seminal fluid in the seminal vesicles, prostate fluid from the prostate gland, and lubricants from the bulbourethral gland. Normally, the sphincter of the bladder tightens to prevent retrograde flow of semen during climax. In retrograde ejaculation, it is either very weak or the nerves have been damaged. (Symptoms) • dry orgasm: Ejaculates very little or no semen out of the penis. • spermaturia after orgasm: Cloudy urine because it contains semen. • male infertility: Inability to get a woman pregnant. (Causes) • dysautonomia: Autonomic nervous system dysfunction. • trauma of the prostate or nerve pathways to the bladder sphincter • side effect of alpha-blockers: Alpha-blockers relax muscles (sphincter) in the bladder neck.
