I need to trim and perfect the inner circle of a round wooden frame. I pre-cut the circular opening with a jigsaw. Now I want to use a palm router to ensure the circle's perimeter is perfect. We'll use a geometry trick applied to woodworking. I'll make a jig for routing circles with the router that features two pivot points. With the first pivot point, the router bit traces a smaller arc until it reaches the tangent point with the inner circle of the wooden frame. This allows me to route comfortably without leaving marks on the inner edge of the frame. Additionally, it’s very easy to fine-tune the pivot radii by millimeters, so we can route the inner circle in multiple passes for greater precision and safety. Check out the double pivot point trick applied to a cutting jig for the jigsaw: • Amazing Double PIVOT Point circle cut... In the video, we see that I mark the direction of the wood grain. Routing in the direction where the bit "compresses" the grain is key to avoiding bounce from the router or the workpiece. If we route against the grain, the router may bounce. In this project, I encounter both situations alternately around the circle's perimeter. To minimize the issue, I first route one millimeter. Thanks to this adjustable circle-cutting jig, I make a second pass, increasing the radius by one more millimeter. Thank you for subscribing to my channel! :)
