Reported by: Maria Miller JOHNSTOWN, Pa. -- With Christmas less than three weeks away, people are packing the stores and malls. Crowds are waiting in line to get their annual picture with Santa, but the kids aren't the only ones. The pets wait in line every year, too, to see their jolly friend. While Santa's getting ready for his busiest time of year, he takes a break a few hours each day to meet with children across the world to see what it is they want for Christmas. And sometimes, he's got a helper with him to snap a few pictures. At the Galleria in Johnstown, that helper is Roger. Roger's been behind the camera for the past 12 years, seeing the joy in not only the children's eyes but also the pets'. "We get a variety of pets," said Roger Kerekes. "Dogs, cats. We've had some ferrets and even a fish. Somebody brought their fish in a little baggie." Pet picture day can, undoubtedly, get a bit hectic. But Roger and Santa make it work and even have a few tips up their sleeves. "Pets are like children," said Kerekes. "We found that children 18 months to 3 years old have a natural fear of Santa, the Easter Bunny, any character, and pets sometimes have the same fear also, so we try to calm them down and get the best we can. We call them drop and runs. Get 'em in there, snap a picture, and get 'em out." For Sasha, sitting on Santa's lap isn't anything new. She's done it every year. "It's her annual Santa picture and I just have to do it," said Sasha's owner, Mary Ann Rendar. "Just something I've done." A few snaps and flashes give this pup just enough time to fill Santa's ear with her Christmas list. "She has enough, anything, but she still gets stuff," said Rendar. "Just a bunch of treats and toys." "They're my friends too," said Santa. "Santa loves the animals as much as he loves the children, especially when they're somebody else's. Taking care of those reindeer is a tough enough job, and dogs don't do well at the North Pole." So, it really doesn't matter whether you have four legs and fur, are pint-sized or an adult " anyone can't sit on Santa's lap.
