Two years ago today we embarked on our first journey as a band. The first tour, a baptism. None of us could have fathomed how exhilarating these two years would turn out to be. Most of what took place you already know because you were there, forging the bond that keeps us going. This short film, created with utmost love by Andrew, is an invitation for a trip down memory lane through a more personal insight. But it’s not just that, it’s also a farewell to its evident protagonist. Today with a heavy heart we announce Gustav’s departure as a member of The Steams to focus on his day job. Over the last four years as both drummer and friend, Gustav made a tremendous contribution to the band and we ’re sad to see him go. Thank you for your zeal, earnestness and high jinks; every tour has been an amusement ride with you behind the wheel. Wish you all the best in your future endeavours and we’ll miss you on the road! Here's his personal note: "This is a narrative I created with the videos I shot while on my first tour with my band; The Steams. This is also a goodbye to my beloved friend and drummer, Gustav Penka, who is no longer a member of the band, but will forever be a significant part of its history. I made this video while attempting to reconcile with the idea that things are changing. In retrospect, you may also consider this narrative a tribute to the things I long the most, and to the people and experiences that shaped me. I am still treasuring these memories with immeasurable love and pride, and am thankful for the Journey so far."
