Today's AS is the occasion of trying 5 different 17 inches vintage acoustic archtops with floating pickups (the great original DeArmond Rythm chiefs 1000 and 1100). The guitars are all strung with bronze strings except for the Guild and the Epiphone 39 blonde that have nickel strings (flats on the 39, and roundwound on the guild). Please feel free to comment on which you like best, or give you order of preference. When playing with a floating pickup, i like to get the more electric sound possible, so i notice that nickel strings work better, although the Rythm Chief 1000 (without adjustable plots) was apparently designed to work also with bronze strings and the results i get are still pretty good i think. I am using an Abersold play along track on the standard Indian Summer, a tune from 1919 composed by Victor Hebert. I will also post a AS50-2 with a version of the same song played as a duet with my friend Serge Merlaud in a few days. The guitars used in this test, plugged into a 1968 Fender Princeton Reverb "drip edge": -1936 Epiphone Deluxe with DeArmond RC 1000 -1939 Epiphone Deluxe with DeArmond RC1100 -1946 Epiphone Deluxe with DeArmond RC1000 -1942 D'angelico Excel with DeArmond RC1000 -1978 Guild Artist Award with DeArmond RC1100 Please share and subscribe if you like what you see Acoustic standards on facebook : https://www.facebook.com/Acoustic-Sta...
