Electoral Risk Forecasting: Lessons from the Edo Governorship

On 23 of July 2025, the Master in Electoral Policy and Administration (MEPA) team hosted "Electoral Risk Forecasting: Lessons from the Edo Governorship Election". For this webinar we had the honour of having Bukola Idowu Bankole, who brought unique insights from both academic and practical perspectives, drawing from his extensive experience in electoral reforms and civic governance across Nigeria and West Africa. He presented the Election Security Risk Analysis (ESRA) methodology - a comprehensive pre-election assessment framework designed to identify potential sources of electoral violence and create effective mitigation strategies. Using the 2024 Edo State governorship election as a case study, he demonstrated how data-driven risk assessment can enhance election security and voter participation. Bukola Idowu Bankole: Founding Executive Director of Kimpact Development Initiative, with over 15 years of experience in electoral reforms. He now advises Nigeria's National Assembly on electoral policy and brings regional insight into civic resilience, youth-led governance, and digital democracy across Africa.
