Prime emphasis of this Pathology lecture is Hemoglobinopathies which explains the sickle cell disease, hemoglobin C disease, and hemoglobin E disease along with other hemoglobinopathies that takes place due to Mutations in A- or B-globin genes. This V-Learning™ also focuses on their Pathology outlines. ------------------------------------------------------------- Lecture Duration - 00:40:33 Release Date - December 2019 Watch complete lecture on sqadia.com - https://www.sqadia.com/programs/hemog... There is no difference in the terms hemoglobinopathies or haemoglobinopathies, except the difference of spelling. Both these terms are used interchangeably. Thalassemia syndromes and structural hemoglobin variants are the two main classification of hemoglobinopathies. Thalassemia and hemoglobinopathy are further sub-categorized. The main classes of thalassemia syndrome are α- and β-thalassemia. On the other hand, HbS, HbE, and HbC are the main structural hemoglobinopathies which are discussed in detail int his lecture. Sickle cell disease, one of the hemoglobinopathy, is discussed initially in this lecture. Sickle cell disease Pathogenesis illustrates that the Mutations in beta-globin chain of the haemoglobin molecule causes the biconcave Erythrocyte to be changed into crescent or sickle shape. ------------------------------------------------------------- 1300+ Medical Courses Lectures. The clinical features of double heterozygosity for HgbS encompass Red Blood Cells with hemoglobin crystals, retinopathy, mild reticulocytosis. Discussion continues on hemoglobin C disease which is characterized by Anemia, splenomegaly, and reduced oxygen affinity. Similarly, hemoglobin E disease is explained which also arises by the genetic defect in beta globin gene i.e. glutamate present at 26th position of beta chain is replaced by the lysine. Other hemoglobinopathies that takes place due to Mutations in A- Or B-globin genes are also made understandable. ------------------------------------------------------------- Facebook - / sqadiacom Instagram - / sqadiacom LinkedIN - / sqadia-com Pinterest - / sqadiacom TumblR - / sqadiacom Twitter - / sqadiacom Vimeo - https://vimeo.com/sqadiacom YouTube - / sqadiacom -------------------------------------------------------------
