Three music cues composed by Leroy Shield and used in the Laurel and Hardy comedy "A Perfect Day". This music was composed in 1936 for the L&H feature "Our Relations" and used for for the re-issue of "A Perfect Day" the following year. . "A Perfect Day" was originally released in 1929. The music is played by the Dutch band The Beau Hunks. Leroy Shield (October 2, 1893 - January 9, 1962) was an American film score and radio composer best remembered for his work for the Hal Roach film studio, composing countless background themes that became associated with such Roach comedy series as Laurel and Hardy, Our Gang, ZaSu Pitts and Thelma Todd, and Charley Chase. One of his compositions for the 1930 Our Gang short Teacher's Pet, "Good Old Days," became the theme song of the series. His 1930 song "Beautiful Lady" was used as the theme song for the Pitts and Todd films. The Beau Hunks are a Dutch revivalist music ensemble who have performed and recorded the vintage works of composers Leroy Shield, Raymond Scott, Edward McDowell, Ferde Grofé, and others. They have been referred to as a "documentary orchestra," because they perform note-perfect renditions of music which is obscure and often commercially unavailable. For some projects for which no sheet music was known to exist, they had to reconstruct charts from original recordings extracted from films.
