Endoscopy is a diagnostic procedure used to examine the digestive tract for abnormalities like ulcers, tumors, or inflammation. It is a routine procedure gastroenterologists perform to help diagnose and treat various digestive disorders. However, many people may feel anxious or apprehensive about undergoing an endoscopy. As a healthcare provider, I understand that I must help my patients feel comfortable and informed about any procedure they undergo. My experience can alleviate my patients' fears or concerns and encourage them to prioritize their health. As a woman, I am proud to share that I recently performed an upper endoscopy on myself. Sharing my experience will help to demystify the endoscopy procedure and encourage more people to take charge of their health. I want to use this opportunity on International Women's Day to encourage everyone to prioritize their health and control their medical care. On this Women's Day, let us celebrate our strength, resilience, and determination to break down barriers and achieve our goals.
