Thank you for watching and I hope you enjoy the video. If you are new here, my channel mostly consists of railroad videography from around the Northeastern USA. Starting at the railroad crossing on the south side of San Diego’s main freight yard (at Cesar E. Chavez Parkway), the first few shots show some of BNSF’s local late afternoon movements including the nightly autoracks train on the way to assemble their train/spin their locomotives and the local San Diego industrial job arriving back into the yard after an afternoon around the port. Next, I went closer to downtown for some passenger train shots at Santa Fe Depot and the Noell Street grade crossing - Amtrak Pacific Surfliners and Coaster commuter trains made appearances there. After passenger train traffic slowed down, the dispatcher used the opening as an opportunity to get BNSF’s early evening northbound freight through downtown. Although the early northbound freight out of San Diego usually consists of manifest freight, on this day it was all autorack cars. In addition to that, it was moving some extra locomotives out of San Diego adding up to a grand total of 8 engines at the head end. I chased this train to San Diego’s Old Town station from Santa Fe Depot with a stop at the West Laurel Street crossing. After a break, I caught up with the later northbound BNSF freight out of San Diego near the Little Italy section of town.
