Opening session: Hysterectomies in India: Problems, Policies & Perspectives According to research published in medical journals, ‘Prevalence estimates for Hysterectomy are seen to be highest in various states across India. This session will look into the extent of the problem of unwanted Hysterectomies, the present status of Hysterectomies, state wise prevalence, the major reasons why women opt for it (area wise specific economic causes), health reasons that make women seek medical intervention, policy reforms that should be initiated, promoting the judicial use of health insurance, the checks and audits that private clinics have to undertake. Will also touch upon HMB and Menstrual Hygiene and Health management.
