History Of the 99 Rooms MANSION In Ibadan - Adebisi Idikan's Full Story.

Adebisi was born in Ibadan in the late 19th century to Adesina, a "Ofi" trader who immigrated from Efon-Alaye in the state of Ekiti. Adebisi grew up selling their father's Ofi clothing both inside and outside of Ibadan with his siblings Adetinrin and Adeoti. He had amassed such wealth from the firm by the time he was a teenager that he forced his siblings to sell it. Later, Adebisi began large-scale farming, expanding his cocoa plantation business in the process. His success in the cocoa plantation industry led other prosperous businesspeople, including Otiti, Ekolo, and Afuleyin, to designate him as the "Gowa Egbe," or Head of Society. The name "Giwa" was appended to his name as a result of this title.
