Wednesday Waffle – Episode 51 | 4 March 2026 In this week’s episode of the Wednesday Waffle, I take you through another full week building Lockwood Premium British Smocks, from product development and countryside events to the realities of running a British manufacturing brand. At the start of the episode, I tease a new product launch, and at the end it’s finally revealed — the Knightsbridge Quarter Zip. This new piece is named in recognition of Hyde Park Barracks in Knightsbridge, the third barracks I served in during my time with the Coldstream Guards. Among the soldiers who served there, it was simply known as “Bridge.” The Knightsbridge Quarter Zip is a nod to that chapter of my life and continues the Lockwood mission of soldier-designed, British-made clothing built to last. Earlier in the week I travelled to Hereford to visit HR4K, run by former SAS soldier Ben Garwood. It was a real honour for Ben to recognise the quality of the kit we’re producing and to have Lockwood smocks showcased there. When someone of his background acknowledges the standard of your work, it says a lot about the direction the brand is heading. On Friday I passed through Gloucester and caught up with an old friend, Callum, before visiting Alexander First School, where I sit on the committee supporting their riding stables. The project helps local children — including those classified as SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) — access horses and riding. My involvement, along with my British Horse Society qualifications, helps the programme secure better insurance rates and provides guidance as the initiative grows. It’s something I’m proud to support, especially after showing them what’s possible following a visit to Ebony Horse Club, where I previously volunteered. The weekend was spent in the countryside at two point-to-point races — the Kimblewick and the South & West Wilts — catching up with customers and meeting people who’ve been following the Lockwood journey online. Seeing the community behind British-made country clothing is always a reminder of why this brand exists. Back to reality on Monday with the usual admin and a call with my mentor Matt, before Tuesday saw me delivering around 1,200–1,300 leaflets across Windsor. Let’s just say I now have a newfound respect for postmen — it’s a serious graft getting that many through letterboxes. Wednesday morning started with calls to my accountant and mentor to go through the year-end accounts, where I had a steep learning curve understanding “above the line” and “below the line” accounting — the kind of lessons every founder has to learn while building a business. We also announced that the Lockwood LO Quarter Zip has been restocked, now available again in sizes Small through XXL, after selling out previously. Episode 51 is another honest look behind the scenes of building a British manufacturing brand, supporting countryside sport, and creating clothing that represents heritage, service, and quality. ⸻ #LockwoodSmocks #BritishMade #MadeInBritain #StrongerTogether #WednesdayWaffle ⚔️🇬🇧⛰️
