It is located to the east of Eros Airport and has the population estimated close to eight thousand people. It is a well provided Windhoek urban area near city center and a great place to live, with excellent modern social services. The district is well-known for a small zoo located in the neighborhood. Suiderhof (German for South Corner) is a suburb of Windhoek and is located in the southern part of the city. It borders the Southern Industrial area in the north, the Windhoek suburb of Olympia in the south and newer suburb Auasblick in the east. Suiderhof is traditionally a district of mostly the Afrikaans-speaking middle class population and is characterized by individual houses, smaller businesses and little industry. One of the largest barracks of the Namibian Defense Force in the country is also located in Suiderhof. There are some notable sites and businesses in Suiderhof: a large public swimming pool (Olympia Swimming Pool) - moved to Suiderhof from old location at Maerua Park (Mall), Kalahari Car Hire (Mr. Hubert Hester), The Old Wheelers Club, many sport fields and stadiums including Independence Stadium, rugby field, restaurants: Dros, Vintage Bar & Grill, The BARN, Bodega's Pizza, Corner Pub & Grill, Bush Bar, sport clubs, tennis courts, Doc Jubber Hockey Fields, Deutscher Turn und Sportverein (DTS), Delta Secondary School, MTC Head office (mobile telecommunications), Camelthorn Nursery and many other smaller businesses including car rental companies and B&Bs.
