A man accused of driving under the influence and hitting a pedestrian in April appeared in court on Thursday, and has been sentenced to 5 years in prison. The incident occurred on April 13 when Ralph Davis allegedly lost control of his vehicle in Lancaster, crossed into oncoming traffic, and struck 29-year-old Kyger Hardy, pinning him against a sign. As a result of the crash, Hardy's leg had to be amputated, and he suffered multiple broken bones and internal trauma. After the collision, Davis fled the scene and drove off. Davis pleaded guilty on Thursday in court to several charges, including 1 count of aggravated vehicular assault, a felony of the 3rd degree, as well as pleading guilty to failure to stop after an accident, a felony of the 4th degree. Davis has been suspended of his license for 10 years, starting from the date of the incident on April 13. Davis will also receive 137 days jail time credit, which will be reduced from his five-year sentence.
