In this episode of my series “Walks in Dorset”, I take a 4.5 mile circular walk from the village of Farnham which is located 7 miles North East of Blandford Forum. Once again I am accompanied by my Whippet, Logan. I parked my car in the centre of Farnham & started off with a wander through the village – which is full of beautiful houses & cottages (many of them thatched). Passing by The Museum Inn, I visited the pretty church of St Laurence before heading initial South East out of the village. I soon joined up with a section of the Jubilee Trail and headed to Minchington in the East. The trail then took me Northwards in a fairly straight line all the way up to Champs Farm (now a deserted building). My route then took me to the small hamlet of Woodcutts and after crossing the B3081 I continued Northwards to explore the site of the Iron Age / Romano British settlement on Woodcutts Common. Retracing my steps, I joined up with a footpath that took me Westwards to Pollards Wood & on to Rushmore Park. I then made my way to Minchington Cross, along Oakley Lane & finally a path across fields back to Farnham. My final destination was The Museum Inn where I took light refreshments. I was able to test out my new HoverAir X1 “mini drone” and included a little bit of information about it within the video. Map courtesy of Google Maps. Aerial pictures courtesy of Google Maps.
